Exploring and Increasing Self-Knowledge through the practice of Dharma Yoga

Every now and then there is a legendary teacher who not only inspires through his teachings but also through the life he is living. Sri Dharma Mittra is definitely one of those teachers! At the age of 81 he is still teaching, practicing yoga, laughing, and lighting up the room with his playful presence. Sri Dharma is based in New York where he teaches classes and teacher trainings at his studio the Dharma Yoga Center.

We are excited to be able to offer you a day of practicing with Sri Dharma online! In a time where we need our practice the most, you can join him right from your living room for a yoga asana practice, pranayama, yoga nidra, and satsang.

Recordings will be made available after the event, so you can still receive the teaching if you are unable to join us live. We do however recommend that you tune in live to experience the connection with the global community of yogis tuning in and get to ask any questions you might have for Sri Dharma during the Q&A!

Dharma Yoga Masterclass - Focus: Warm-Ups and Balancing Poses

Sri Dharma Mittra shares a lifetime of experience within his Shiva Namaskara Vinyasa Asana Series for all practitioners. He is a master at helping all levels of students make progress in their practice. These powerful, yet subtle practices help bring radiant health, fitness, and Self Knowledge quickly to all students. The program will include a special focus on yoga poses ideal for warming up the physical container — the body, leading to an increased flow of energy within the subtle body, as well as some breathing exercises (Pranayama) that have a similar effect.

17:00 – 18:00 hrs | Satsang with Sri Dharma Mittra

Knowledge is the best purifier and self-knowledge is the best of all knowledge. Enjoy an hour-long Satsang with Sri Dharma Mittra learning directly from him and his more than 50 years of dedicated practice and service. Divine knowledge will slowly purify the mind by removing doubts. This instantly triggers inner peace and spiritual bliss, which is the gentle beginning of the end of pain and illusion.

Dharma Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation practiced in Corpse Pose. The regular practice of Yoga Nidra provides instant, pure energy, and this energy is 100% natural. 30 minutes of Psychic Sleep is equivalent to a couple of hours of deep regenerative healing sleep. Soon, you will go beyond ordinary consciousness to where your thoughts become powerful and creative. Regular practice will allow you to tap into the boundless joy that is already within.

Dharma Mittra

Legendary yoga teacher Sri Dharma Mittra first encountered yoga as a teenager before meeting his guru in 1964 and beginning his training in earnest. Sri Dharma founded one of the early independent schools of yoga in New York City in 1975 and has taught many tens of thousands the world over in the years since. Sri Dharma is the model and creator of The Master Yoga Chart of 908 Postures, the author of ASANAS: 608 Yoga Poses, the LOAY Teachers’ Manual and Yoga Wisdom, has released two DVDs to date – Maha Sadhana Levels I and II, and recently captured classes are available for streaming via,, and Vimeo On Demand. Sri Dharma continues to disseminate the complete traditional science of yoga through daily classes, international workshops, and his Life of a Yogi Teacher Trainings at the Dharma Yoga New York Center.
