Pranayama & Meditation
The practices of yoga help us to purify our mind, body, and senses. This allows us to move towards the realization of our true nature and interacting with the world from that place. Pranayama is said to be one of the most powerful purifiers. In the pranayama sessions, Sam will teach you techniques to balance the respiratory, cardiovascular, and nervous systems that calm the body. This is also the preparation for the meditation that will follow. Allowing the mind to move into deeper stages of meditation.
Yoga Philosophy Discourse and Q&A
The main cause of suffering according to yoga philosophy is avidya, or ignorance of our true nature. The remedy to this is Self-study. During these discourses we will explore the wisdom shared in the great yoga texts and how it relates to our day to day lives. Sam offers a gentle and compassionate approach to the ancient wisdom she shares. This allows a comfortable learning space in which you are invited to become aware of your own experience and explore it free from judgment.
Dharma Yoga Asana
Dharma yoga is a challenging yet accessible practice that emphasizes the paths of karma and bhakti yoga. Through the practice we learn to joyfully offer all our actions without expectations for the results. Sam will get your body moving, while integrating the other elements of yoga, giving depth to the practice of yoga asana. The practice is open to all levels as different options are offered during the practice.
